Downtown Clean Up Event

The Olympia Downtown Association and the Downtown Clean Up Committee coordinate two Downtown Clean Up events each year. Both dates are scheduled the Saturday before the Spring and Fall Arts Walk events.

Volunteers spiff up the downtown by weeding, sweeping, raking, pruning and painting. Nearly 200 volunteers participate in cleaning up our downtown twice a year and you can too! Business owners and staff, service organizations and clubs, religious organizations, financial institutions, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and students together with City, State & Federal employees (Ft. Lewis Army Base participates every year) and families all join in from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm to clean up downtown.

Our event sponsor, the Parking and Business Improvement Area (PBIA), designate part of their budget to contribute to these Clean Ups. This sponsorship enables us to purchase equipment, supplies, promotion & marketing, coordination & staffing, refreshments and free lunch for all volunteers!

It’s great to see everyone working hard together, taking ownership of his or her assigned block and having fun doing it!  Being proud of their downtown Olympia so it’s a pleasing place to shop, eat and socialize is what it’s all about.

We do appreciate a phone call or email letting us know you would like to participate so we can accurately plan the number of people for our free lunch provided to all our volunteers. To volunteer for this committee or event, please click on odaevent@tss.net and I’ll add your name to our great volunteer list. You may also use that email address to inquire for more information on what the ODA does. Thank you!
