Arts Walk
Coordinated by City Of Olympia Parks, Arts and Recreation
The Olympia Downtown Association participates in Arts Walk twice a year by providing volunteers to staff the Lost Children & Information Area. This event, coordinated by the Dept. of Parks, Arts & Recreation typically brings thousands of people to downtown Olympia in the Spring and Fall to view art in stores, venues and on the street. Music is hosted by many of the downtown businesses and the festivities go into the night.

Many streets in the downtown are blocked off for pedestrians during this event. The whole town lends itself to a gala celebration of the arts and music.
The Spring Arts walk is a two-day event taking place on April 23 & 24, 2010 and the Fall Arts Walk is a one day event taking place on October 1, 2010. We typically need 2 people to staff the table area for a 1-1/2 hour shift. The City produces a great program for the event and folks usually come by to say “hi” and ask for a certain location, artist or musician.

If there is a lost child, they stay with us at the table area or several steps away at the OPD Walking Patrol office. We have coloring books and crayons for them to play and use. Only once in many years has a child been lost. The parents found him (in 10 minutes or less) happily coloring. We immediately notify the Arts Walk Coordinators and OPD.
